[DeleGate-En] FTP/SFTP Gateway - connection refused
05 Nov 2010 22:39:02 GMT Vijay Pandit <pyejabdyi-hugik5wlcjxr.ml@ml.delegate.org>

Hi Yutaka,

I am using Delegate as a FTP-SFTP proxy using delegate9.9.7 with the "too
many open files" patch.

I find that in a test when the client just logs into the server and logs
back out, the session times out on the client for about half the number of
attempts. A timeout occurs after the client logs in and does a CWD to make
the proxy connect to the server.

For the failed attempts, the proxy does not return with "SFTP/FTP gateway
ready", but instead returns "550 proxy connection rejected" and the client
closes the session with the proxy after 1 min. For the sessions that
connect, the transfers work perfectly.
I have attached the client side FTP log for an attempt that timed out, and
also the delegate logs on the proxy covering successful sessions and those
that timed out. The proxy log has the below entries which might be relevant
- the session timed out on the client for that attempt.

11/05 13:10:21.67 [20266] 49+0/3: ## connect[25] refused (146)
11/05 13:10:21.67 [20266] 49+0/3: [25] serverCC connect failed
127.0.0.1:39487 [0.00s] errno=146
------------------when second client's first attempt timed out--------------

11/05 13:12:23.75 [20275] 52+0/3: ## connect[25] refused (146)
11/05 13:12:23.75 [20275] 52+0/3: [25] serverCC connect failed
127.0.0.1:48127 [0.00s] errno=146
-----------------when second client's fourth attempt timed out-----------

The log covers sessions with 2 FTP clients (both have similar issues).

The first client in the log is 172.16.226.4 and the second is
172.16.253.138. The second client's first attempt timed out, the second and
third were OK, the fourth timed out, etc.

Could you please have a look ?

Cheers

Vijay Pandit
