I uploaded 9.9.6-pre5 which can be compiled without C++ to avoid
many strange problems in compilation and linking for C++ on HP-UX,
AIX and Solaris/SPARC_64 :)
Your RESOLV="" problem can be also due to linking problem to the
stab of gethostbyname2() on Solaris.
You can compile 9.9.6-pre5 without C++ as follows:
% make -f Makefile.QSC
See and edit Makefile.QSC to add CFLAGS and LDOPTS for your use.
