[DeleGate-En] Re: ICQ via SOCKS-DeleGate
01 Jul 2002 14:02:46 GMT ptidabdyi-p5lznxlmmzxr.ml@ml.delegate.org

Dear Sir,

With your assistance, I have changed some configuration and that
works for the source IP only from my network . (61.20.0.0/28) The
configuration is as follows:

delegated -P61.20.0.5:1080 ADMIN=allen@idv..tw SERVER=socks
SRCIF="61.20.0.5:*:udpbind" LOGDIR=/var/log LOGFILE=delegate.log &

But if I inital the connection from the source outside my network
(211.73.128.195) than I got the following log message and I would not got
connected by passing the login authentication:

06/21 10:59:36.95 [13426] 1+0: -- Fork(SequentialServer): 13418 -> 13426
06/21 10:59:37.03 [13426] 1+1: (0) accepted [19]
-@[211.73.128.195]fetlab.ias.fetnet.net:1638 (0.080s)(1)
06/21 10:59:37.03 [13426] 1+1: PATH:
socks://-:1080!dns.everywhere.idv.tw.:1080!fetlab.ias.fetnet.net:1638!anonym
ous@fetlab.ias.fetnet.net;1024628377
06/21 10:59:37.03 [13426] 1+1: ## hostIFto 211.73.128.195 < 61.20.0.5
(ffffff00)
06/21 10:59:37.03 [13426] 1+1: disconnected [19]
-@[211.73.128.195]fetlab.ias.fetnet.net:1638 (0.084s)(0)
06/21 11:00:07.06 [13426] 1+1: StickyServer done [acceptFailed] 1 req / 1
conn / 31 sec

I checked the message PATH: socks:// ... from the manual and didn't find
anything about SERVER=socks related to PATH: socks:// ... , and only found
that in the paragraph talking about SOCKS=... . Did I still miss anything?

Hi,

On 06/13/02(12:17) you ptidabdyi-p5lznxlmmzxr.ml@ml.delegate.org wrote
in <_A1690@delegate-en.ML_>
 |/usr/local/delegate/src/delegated -P61.20.0.5:1080

<mailto:ADMIN=allen@everywhere.idv.tw> >
 |SERVER=socks SOCKS="61.20.0.5:1080:!.localnet" LOGDIR=/var/log
 |LOGFILE=delegate.log &

This configuration seems confused because while configuring as a
SOCKS-server with SERVER=socks, it is referring itself as a
SOCKS-client with SOCKS=(myself). This SOCKS=... parameter must
be removed.

 |Here I got a problem -- I can not pass the login authentication to ICQ
 |server(Listen UDP server:8000) (it always failed of timeout) by using
SOCKS5
 |proxy, but if my host directly connects to the remote ICQ server and pass
 |the login authentication and then I change the connection by using the
proxy
 |server, it works for both way communication (chatting). I've tested for a
 |long time and no any policy issue of firewall. I know that I may missed
 |some point regarding configuration; however, I have no idea why the proxy
 |can not pass the authenticatio info to server that I typed.

Since I myself have no experience with ICQ, I just tried it downloading
the latest beta version, connecting via SOCKS-DeleGate, then it
came to "Online" status without error. Can I understand it as the
authenticated state?

Cheers,
Yutaka
