[DeleGate-En] compiling v5.7.1 with GNU Make
29 Oct 1998 14:24:56 GMT Ciaran Deignan <poqmqbth4-y44oklbdqljr.ml@ml.delegate.org>

I have a problem building delegated version 5.7.1 on AIX 4.1.5 with GNU
make version 3.76.1.

GNU Make displays the message
  Entering directory 'xxxxxxx' when the directory changes.
the Mkmake tool does not discard this warning, and thus the
contents of Makefile.go becomes corrupted.

The build fails with

        #ifdef UNIX #######################################################
        #ifdef UNIX,OS2EMX ################################################
make[1]: Leaving directory `/internet/port/delegate5.7.1/src'
make[1]: Entering directory `/internet/port/delegate5.7.1/src'
Makefile.go:668: *** multiple target patterns. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/internet/port/delegate5.7.1/src'
mkmake: ERROR LOG is left at /internet/port/delegate5.7.1/src/mkmake.err
mkmake: ERROR LOG is left at /internet/port/delegate5.7.1/src/mkmake.err

The file src/mkmake.err doesn't contain anything that would explain
what's happening. Line 668 of Makefile.go reads:

668: $(TELEPORTF):   $(LIB_DEPEND) $(LIBSRC_TELEPORT)
668:                 $(MKAT) ../teleport libteleport.a $(LMAKE)

The problem seems to be in the definition of LIBSRC_TELEPORT, which is
defined as:

227: LIBSRC_TELEPORT= \
228:  ../teleport/make[2]: \
229:  ../teleport/Entering \
230:  ../teleport/directory \
231:  ../teleport/`/internet/port/delegate5.7.1/teleport' \
....

The problem can be avoided by forcing the use of the standard make.
I don't know if this is a real bug, but someone else might stumble on it.

Bye
Ciaran
