This shows that you will be able to satisfy the requirement with:

    -P8110 \
    SERVER=pop \
    MOUNT="a* pop://server1/a*" \
    ...
    MOUNT="g* pop://server1/g*" \
    MOUNT="h* pop://server2/h*" \
    ...
    MOUNT="p* pop://server2/p*" \
    MOUNT="q* pop://server3/q*" \
    ...
    MOUNT="z* pop://server3/z*" \

Also you can use undocumented, tentative, very restricted regular
expression rewriting in MOUNT like this...

    MOUNT="[a-z]* pop://server1/*" \
    MOUNT="[h-p]* pop://server2/*" \
    MOUNT="[q-z]* pop://server3/*" \
